Highschool students all over Jersey coordinated via facebook yesterday, walking out of their classrooms to protest the budget cuts by the new Governor. The students from Newark (pictured above) came out in the largest numbers with thousands marching on the city capital. While the budget cuts are drastic, the deficit is truly immense, and Governor Chris Christie is now forced to keep a promise from the campaign trail. The city of Newark has been making great strides lately to combat crime, focusing heavily on the youth, finishing a new high school and creating numerous after school programs. Hopefully the cuts don't hurt Mayor Cory Booker's progress in the "Brick City". Regardless of what plays out, way to go Jersey youth.
